Ledger Set:
Ledger Set is a collection of ledgers which are going to share the same Chart of Accounts and Calendar. The ledger set is used to access the data of multiple ledgers from a single responsibility. ( Say Ledger define in US and Ledger in IND).
Why we create a Ledger Set?
By creating a ledger set all the Journals created in different ledger that are defined under a single ledger set can be viewed. We can run consolidated reports, trial balance, define FSG etc.
To do so we create separate GL responsibility and attach this data access set through profile option ‘GL: Data Access Set’. When we configure this we can see consolidated results without performing consolidation. All the journals created in different ledger can be seen in this responsibility. We can run consolidated reports, trial balance, define FSG etc.
Now going ahead, When we define a ledger set system internally generates a data access set with the same name as our ledger set.
General Ledger Responsibility
Navigation: Setup -> Financials -> Ledger Set
Name: GSSTATA LEDGER SET
Short Name: GSSTATA LEDGER SET
Chart of Account: GSSTATA
Calendar: GSSTATA CAL
Default Ledger: GSSTATA PL
Ledger/ Ledger Set
GSSTATA PL
GSSTATA DEMO
Now system internally creates a data access set
Navigation:
Setup -> Financials -> Data Access Set
Name: GSSTATA LEDGER SET
Chart of Account: GSSTATA
Calendar: GSSTATA CAL
Now switch to System Administration responsibility
Profile Option:
Select the responsibility and assign the data access set GSSTATA LEDGER SET
Now to check journal here we can see that GSSTATA PL would be displaced by default and we can change to GSSTATA DEMO
Note:
To restrict the ledger to access the particular balancing segment only we need to create a data access set.
Navigation: Setup -> Financials -> Data Access Set
And restrict the ledger to access only a specific balancing segment
Access set type: Balancing Segment Value.
